Annual “Wellness” Visit
This visit is covered once every 12 months, and everyone who receives Medicare is eligible. This visit is only covered if the doctor accepts Medicare assignment, and it is worth noting the Medicare Part B Deductible does not apply. This “Wellness” visit includes an evaluation of your medical and family history. The doctor will also check your blood pressure, vision, weight, and height. In addition, the doctor will make sure you are up to date with cancer screenings and shots.
Pap Tests/Pelvic Examinations (screening)
This is covered once every 24 months for all women, and once every 12 months if you are at high risk for cervical or vaginal cancer. As long as the doctor accepts Medicare assignment, you pay nothing for the lab Pap test, and nothing for the Pap test specimen collection, or pelvic exam.
Bone Mass Measurements
This service is covered once every 24 months, and more often for people when it is medically necessary. This service is designed to identify those who are at risk for broken bones.
This service is covered once every 5 years to test your cholesterol, lipid, and trygliceride levels. The objective is to detect conditions that could lead to a heart attack.
Colon Cancer Screenings
The screening is provided with the objective of finding growths in the colon that could lead to cancer.
This service is provided every flu season during the fall or winter.
